Joe’s 2008 Oscar Predictions
February 24, 2008
it’s oscar season, time for me to pick. i haven’t seen all these
films. but i can still guess. ’cause that’s half the fun. the other half is taking a shot of jack daniels every time someone says “and the oscar.” yum.
some of picks below are longshots (Ellen Page) but some HAVE to be a sure thing (Daniel Day-Lewis) or there is no god or allah or shiva or whatever.
- Best Motion Picture: There Will Be Blood
- Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood)
- Best Actress: Ellen Page (Juno)
- Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men)
- Best Supporting Actress: Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone)
- Best Director: Ethan Coen, Joel Coen (No Country…)
- Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen: Diablo Cody (Juno)
- Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published: There Will Be Blood (PT Anderson)
- Best Achievement in Cinematography: No Country For Old Men (Roger Deakin)
- Best Achievement in Editing: The Bourne Ultimatum (Christopher Rouse)
Okay, you really don’t care about the rest. Trust me, you don’t. Do you really care what I think about Best Achievement in Makeup (Pirates…)? Or Best Original Song for a Film (Once; Glen Hansard - “Falling Slowly”)? Or Best Short Film, Live Action (The Tonto Woman)? No, you don’t. But some people do. It happens. Enjoy the Oscars people.
i drink your milkshake,

Update: I don’t know how to spell “Coen.”
